Personal AI agents

Personal AI agents for UK businesses: what each one does and how to use them safely

Personal AI agents are assistants that take on whole tasks, not single answers. Most now run on their own cloud computer, use your connected apps, keep working when you close the laptop and ask for approval before sensitive steps such as sending email or paying.

For a UK business the deciding questions are simple: can you get it here, does it offer a business account with training off and a data agreement, and does it connect to the tools your team already uses? Today that points most UK teams towards Copilot Cowork, OpenAI dots on Business Premium, or Claude Cowork.

How a team can use it

  • Weekly reporting

Pull figures from your systems each Monday, compare them with last week and build the pack for review.

  • Inbox and diary admin

Draft replies, schedule meetings and prepare briefings, with a person approving anything that leaves the business.

  • Research and proposals

Research a prospect or tender, then draft the first proposal from your past work.

  • Follow-up that never slips

Track open quotes, unpaid invoices or missing documents and draft the next chaser.

Data and safety

Treat an agent like a new starter with keys to your systems. Give it the least access it needs, keep approvals on for email, payments and anything client-facing, and use business accounts where training is off by default and a data processing agreement is signed. Several consumer agents train on your data unless you opt out.

Get started

  1. List three repeat jobs that eat a manager's week.
  2. Pick the agent your team can get in the UK on a business account.
  3. Run one job for two weeks with approvals on, and count hours saved.

Common questions

What is a personal AI agent?

An assistant that completes multi-step tasks for you across your apps, often on its own cloud computer, and checks with you before sensitive actions.

Which personal AI agents work in the UK?

As of 20 October 2026, Copilot Cowork, Claude Cowork and OpenAI dots on ChatGPT Business Premium are available to UK businesses. Meta Muse is limited to the US and Canada, and Instinct is invite-only and run from the US.

Are personal AI agents safe for business data?

They can be, on business plans with training off, a data agreement and approvals turned on. Consumer versions often train on your data by default.

Will an AI agent replace an assistant or office manager?

Agents take on repeat admin. People still decide priorities, handle relationships and check the work.
