AI tools for knowledge work

Claude Code and Claude Cowork for non-technical teams: reports, research and spreadsheets

Claude Code started as a coding tool, and the same agent handles knowledge work well. Point it at a folder of files and it can read every document, build a spreadsheet, reconcile exports, draft a report or proposal and make a simple dashboard, showing each step.

Claude Cowork brings this to non-technical people in the Claude app. You hand off a task, Claude works in the folders and tools you choose, and you come back to finished work for review. It can run scheduled tasks while your laptop is closed.

How a team can use it

  • Month-end reconciliation

Point Claude at regional exports and the budget, and get a working spreadsheet with variances flagged.

  • Proposals and tenders

Give it past proposals and a new brief, and get a first draft in your format.

  • Research packs

Read a folder of reports and produce a summary with every claim cited to its file.

  • Simple dashboards

Turn a spreadsheet into an interactive dashboard your team can open in a browser.

Data and safety

Use a Team or Enterprise plan so commercial terms apply, give Claude access only to the folders it needs, and review outputs before they reach clients. Keep a person checking every figure.

Get started

  1. Install the Claude desktop app on a Team plan.
  2. Make a folder with the files for one repeat task.
  3. Ask Cowork for the finished output and review the steps it took.

On commercial plans, Anthropic's terms say it may not train on your content. Still limit access to what each task needs.
